A Russian billionaire close to Vladimir Putin secretly bankrolled the president’s son’s wedding. ProPublica broke the story on Monday. CNN, ABC News, and the Washington Times confirmed it within hours.

Umar Kremlev paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in expenses for the Bahamas destination wedding in May. He rented a private island for the reception at $100,000 a night. He paid an estimated $70,000 for the fireworks. His team helped plan the event. The payments moved through a Dubai-based entity tied to the International Boxing Association, which Kremlev runs and which is financed by Gazprom, the Russian state-owned energy company.

Putin awarded Kremlev the Order of Friendship in April… one month before the wedding. Ukraine has sanctioned Kremlev over his ties to the Kremlin. ProPublica reported that Kremlev “appears to have met Trump Jr. only recently” and that a “large group of other Russian guests” puzzled the other attendees.

The president’s son has a reported net worth of $300 million. He did not need the money. A retired FBI counterintelligence official told ProPublica: “If I’m paying for your wedding, at some point, you’re going to owe me something. This should be unthinkable for the son of the president.”

A Russian billionaire paid for the wedding. The money moved through a Russian-funded sports body in Dubai. Putin gave the man a friendship medal a month before the party. And the son of the president said it was just a gift from a friend.

A PRIVATE ISLAND. $100,000 A NIGHT. $70,000 IN FIREWORKS. PAID BY A RUSSIAN BILLIONAIRE. THE SON SAID IT WAS A GIFT FROM A FRIEND.

BREAKING

A Whistleblower Said Federal Agents Broke the Law While Searching for “Unlawful Voters” on Orders from the President

A federal whistleblower said that government agents broke the law while carrying out a search for “unlawful voters” that the president ordered. Democracy Now reported the disclosure Tuesday.

The president ordered the search. The agents carried it out. And a person inside the system says they broke the law doing it. The same week the president told a convention crowd to “cheat like hell,” his own agents were caught breaking the rules while looking for people he says should not be allowed to vote.

Civil rights groups have already gone to court to stop agents from patrolling voting sites. Now a whistleblower says the voter search itself was conducted outside the law.

The machine tells supporters to cheat, sends agents to the polls, and breaks the law searching for voters it wants to disqualify. The whistleblower saw it. The whistleblower told.

EXPOSED

The President Called Regulating Artificial Intelligence a “SICK Conspiracy” and a “HOAX”

The president rejected all calls to regulate artificial intelligence, calling the effort a “SICK Conspiracy” and a “HOAX.” Democracy Now reported the statement Tuesday.

This is the same government that sided with OpenAI against the press in court. The same one that let a tech company hide a rogue AI breach from the public. And the same one whose House Speaker is expected to dismiss Congress this week before any regulation can reach the floor.

A former researcher at Anthropic, one of the leading AI companies, resigned over safety concerns and told Democracy Now: “The concept of building a super-intelligence has been likened to summoning an alien species. Thinking about it in terms of an alien mind that we don’t fully understand is pretty terrifying.”

The researcher says it is terrifying. The president says it is a hoax. The companies that build it donated record amounts to the midterm campaigns. And the government that is supposed to regulate it just called regulation a conspiracy.

“If I’m paying for your wedding, at some point, you’re going to owe me something. This should be unthinkable for the son of the president.”

DEVELOPING

A Detention Facility Locked People in Outdoor Metal Cages and Called Them “Calming Areas”

A detention facility dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz” locked immigrants in outdoor metal cages that it labeled “calming areas.” Democracy Now reported the conditions Tuesday.

The people inside were held in open-air metal enclosures. The facility gave the cages a name that made them sound therapeutic. It called them “calming areas.” That is what the machine does. It renames the cage so the cage sounds like care.

Fifty-seven people have died in immigration detention since the president took office. The government bought $20 million in shock gloves and $2 million in robot dogs. It arrested a mother from a hospital bed and parents from school bus stops. And now it puts people in outdoor metal cages and calls them “calming areas.”

The machine does not hide the cages. It renames them. And the name it chose tells you everything about who it thinks is listening.

Connecting the Dots

▸ The Bigger Picture

Four stories from one Tuesday. A Russian billionaire close to Putin secretly paid for the president’s son’s wedding through a state-funded sports body routed through Dubai. A whistleblower said agents broke the law while searching for voters the president wanted disqualified. The president called regulating artificial intelligence a “hoax” and a “conspiracy” while his government shields the industry in court. And a detention center put people in outdoor metal cages and called them “calming areas.”

The press covers each on its own page. A “campaign finance story.” A “whistleblower report.” A “tech policy statement.” A “detention conditions report.” But the thread is the same in every one.

The machine takes the money, breaks the rules, protects the industry, and renames the cage. A Russian billionaire pays for the wedding and the family calls it friendship. Agents break the law looking for voters and the president calls the search necessary. The companies build systems that researchers call terrifying and the president calls regulation a hoax. And the facility puts people in metal cages outdoors and calls them calming areas. Every story has a label designed to make the truth sound harmless. The gift is friendship. The lawbreaking is enforcement. The danger is a hoax. And the cage is a calming area.

When the cage is called a calming area and the wedding is called a gift… the machine is not lying. It is branding. That’s the Seventh Floor.

They rely on the shadows.
It’s time to turn on the lights.
