The same week the president banned three news networks from the White House, the largest media merger in history was cleared to close. Paramount settled its antitrust lawsuit with state attorneys general on Monday, paving the way for its $111 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the settlement after days of marathon negotiations. California Attorney General Rob Bonta held a press conference in Los Angeles but made clear the agreement “was not an endorsement of the deal.” Paramount chief David Ellison praised the terms.
