The state of New Mexico sued the Department of Justice and Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche on Wednesday for blocking its criminal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s Zorro Ranch. The lawsuit calls it “stonewalling.” The DOJ calls it procedure. The Epstein files tell a different story. Zorro Ranch sits on 10,000 acres, 30 miles south of Santa Fe. Several Epstein survivors say they were trafficked there and sexually abused. The ranch is named thousands of times in the Epstein files. One email in the files alleges that Epstein ordered the bodies of two girls to be buried in the hills on the property. AG Raúl Torrez reopened the probe in February and searched the ranch in March. He has asked the DOJ for the full files ever since. They said no. “Todd Blanche today with a stroke of a pen could grant us the access,” Torrez said. “Instead they have decided to stonewall, to obstruct and to frankly conceal.” The 40-page filing says federal lawyers asked New Mexico to stand down in 2019 and said they would share their work when it was done. They never did. Epstein died in his cell that August. The files stayed sealed for years. And when New Mexico got the case going again… the DOJ shut the door. The same week, Senate Democrats released a report saying more than a dozen bankers at JPMorgan, Bank of America, and Deutsche Bank failed to report hundreds of millions in shady Epstein deals.
