In January, the U.S. military flew into Venezuela and captured its president. On Friday, the U.S. government signed a deal to take control of 65 billion barrels of that country’s oil. The president called it “THE BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY.”

NBC, NPR, and PBS all confirmed the agreement. The deal gives the United States 55 percent of the output from 17 oil fields with a combined 65 billion barrels in proven reserves. It was negotiated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth with Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, who took power after the U.S. removed Nicolás Maduro.

Venezuela holds roughly 303 billion barrels of crude… about 17 percent of the world’s total supply. The U.S. strategic petroleum reserve has fallen below 300 million barrels… down more than 100 million since the start of 2026. Gas is still above $4 a gallon. The war with Iran hit its six-month mark on Friday.

NPR reported that experts say the deal will not lower gas prices anytime soon. Most of the fields are undeveloped. Forbes reported that the acreage will take seven to ten years to bring into production. One energy professor at UC Santa Barbara told NPR: “The initial reaction is, wow, this is crazy.”

The machine captured a president, installed a replacement, and signed an oil deal with the new government. It took nine months. The oil will take a decade. And the gas price at the pump has not moved.

ICE Is Spending $2 Million on Robot Dogs

Democracy Now reported Monday that ICE plans to spend $2 million on robot dogs for use in immigration enforcement. The announcement came weeks after the agency revealed plans to buy $20 million in electric shock gloves.

Robot dogs are already used by police departments in a few U.S. cities for surveillance and search operations. They can climb stairs, enter buildings, and carry cameras into places agents cannot safely go. Adding them to immigration enforcement means the government is bringing military-grade robotics into neighborhoods, shelters, and workplaces.

In July, ICE detained 50,000 people… a monthly record. It arrested parents at school bus stops and a mother in a hospital bed. It tracked a man 330 miles over a critical email. And now it is buying robots to do the work agents used to do on foot.

Shock gloves. Robot dogs. Record detentions. The machine is not just expanding. It is automating.

A Judge Ruled the Government Violated the Rights of International Students by Trying to Deport Them for Pro-Palestinian Activism

A federal judge ruled Monday that the government violated the rights of international students by seeking to deport them for participating in pro-Palestinian activism. Democracy Now reported the ruling as part of its daily headlines.

The students were enrolled at American universities on valid visas. They attended lawful protests. The government moved to revoke their visas and deport them… not for a crime, but for speech. The judge said the government cannot use deportation as punishment for political expression.

This is the same government that ran “Operation Puppet Master” against unions and climate groups. That designated Palestine Action as “global terrorists.” That ran sham antisemitism probes against universities. And that revoked 175,000 visas using five years of social media history. The pattern is consistent: speak up, and the machine finds a way to remove you.

The U.S. and Iran Exchanged Fresh Strikes on the Six-Month Anniversary of the War

On the six-month anniversary of the war, U.S. forces struck Iranian missile launchers. Iran fired back at U.S. military targets in the region. Democracy Now reported both strikes on Monday.

Six months. The war started on March 1. The ceasefire in April did not hold. The deal deadline in August expired. The strait is still closed. The missiles are “beyond critical.” And both sides are still firing.

The same day the strikes were exchanged, the president signed a deal for 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil. One hand fires missiles. The other hand signs oil contracts. The war costs $250 million a day. The oil deal will take a decade to produce a barrel.

Six months of war. The strait is closed. The missiles are running out. The gas price has not moved. And the government just signed its biggest oil deal in history… with a country whose president it captured nine months ago. The machine does not end wars. It opens markets.
